ING Green Savings Account

The ING Green Savings Account is a regulated savings account for an unlimited duration accessible to everyone. With this savings account, you can manage your savings however you like! Online on a computer or smartphone, in a Self’Bank or in a branch. We recommend reading the information below before opening a savings account.

  • Where ?

    You can open the ING Green Savings Account online or in a branch.

  • How much ?

    You choose how, how much and for how long you save. No minimum amount is applicable. There is however a maximum savings amount of 250,000 euros.

  • How ?

    It is easy to consult the balance of your savings account online, in Self’Bank, in a branch or on your bank statements.

  • Who ?

    You can open the ING Green Savings Account:

    • In your name, as long as you do not hold another ING savings account in your name. Open this account easily via Home’Bank or make an appointment at the branch.
    • With other joint holder(s), as long as you do not hold another ING savings account with them. Make an appointmnt at the branch.

The base rate is 0.01% and the loyalty premium is 0.10%.

The interest rates apply on an annual basis and are subject to change at any time. The applicable interest rate is available online and at all ING branches. If the interest rate changes, we inform account holders by means of their account statements. 

There is no charge for opening and closing the savings account, or for transfers. Online transactions and bank statements via Home’Bank are free of charge. Fees (0,10% of the requested amount or a minimum of 3 euros) are applicable for cash withdrawals at the counter and for sending statements to your home, at the specified rates in force.

You will not pay any withholding tax if the interest on your ING Green Savings Account is less than €980 (for assessment year 2023, income of 2022). This amount is doubled in the case of accounts opened in the name of a married couple or legal partners i.e. a cap of 1,960 euros (for assessment year 2023, income of 2022).

If your interest is more than €980 (€1,960 married partners or legal cohabiting persons), you will pay withholding tax of 15% (for assessment year 2023, income of 2022).

The ING Green Savings Account is a regulated savings account from ING Bank België NV. Belgian law applies.

The deposit guarantee scheme protects your savings up to € 100,000 (pdf). If ING were to go bankrupt or be at risk of going bankrupt, you might lose the remaining amount or it might be subject to a reduction/conversion into shares.
