Housing

When will I have to start repaying my loan?

Depending on the nature of your project – buying or building – you will start repaying your loan in different ways. Let us explain.

Are you buying a house?

The repayment period for your home loan will start on the 1st of the next month after signing your contract. The application costs and intermediate interest will be automatically debited from your ING account on the 10th of that month. From that point on, all subsequent monthly repayments will be automatically debited from your ING account on the first working day of each month.

Let us take a specific example: Bertrand and Sophie are buying a house. They sign the title deeds on 20 April 2017.

  • 20 April 2017

  • Title deeds

  • 1 May 2017

  • Repayment term

  • 10 May 2017

  • 1 June 2017

  • First monthly payment

Are you building or renovating a home?

The bank will release the capital to you in instalments after signing the title deeds. From that point on, you will pay intermediate interest on sums debited on the 1st of each following month. Application charges are automatically debited from your ING account on the 10th of the month following the title deeds. Once you have used up the full loan amount, the repayment term of your loan starts on the 1st of the following month. From that point on, all subsequent monthly payments will be automatically debited from your ING account on the first working day of each month.

Let us take a specific example: Bertrand and Sophie have decided to build their house. They sign the title deeds on 20 April 2017. They draw down a first instalment of their loan on 15 May.
